Open doors at Grünsberg Castle


Beginning April 2009, every first Sunday in the month, there will be guided tours at Grünsberg Castle nearby Altdorf in Nürnberger Land.

First and foremost you will see the representation rooms of the Palas with its important inventory of seven centuries. This inventory is closely associated with the history of the free imperial city of Nürnberg.
Depending on available time and desire a tour around the medieval parapet walk as well as a visit of the baroque "Sophienquelle" (Sophie's Spring) with its romantic-tragic history of origin are offered. The tour of 60 to 90 minutes duration can wonderfully be combined with a small adventurous hike through the nearby gorge "Teufelsschlucht" and culinarily terminated in the adjacent town of Burgthann.

Beginning April 2009, every first Sunday of the month: Guided tours at 12:00, 14:00, 16:00.
Duration: about 60-90 min., 20 persons max.
Entrance fee: 5 € per person.
Reduced fee: 3 € per person.

Approach via Autobahn A3, take the exit Altdorf-Burgthann, turn left to follow the direction Feucht/ Burgthann. After the village of Weinhof turn left towards Burgthann. In the village of Grünsberg, half-way down the valley, the castle is on the left.
Using the train: S2 to Altdorf, do a short hike: Eppeleinsweg from Altdorf up to Prethalmühle (red cross mark), then Schwarzachtalweg up to Grünsberg (ca. 60 min.)
