The gate tower is the actual entrance of the castle.

In the year 1723, Johann Paul III. Paumgartner had attached his coat of arms to the outside wall of the little tower above the gate together with those of his two wives. Johann Paul's coat of arms is the one with the parot. The "Fischweiblein" (little fish wife) of the Rieter family is associated with his first wife and the three lilies with the jin trap in the middle is associated with his second wife. The shield plate is made of "Schilfsandstein", a beige sandstone coming from the town of Wendelstein nearby Nuremberg.
