glass roundel

The windows composed of clear glass roundels framed in lead date from around 1720 and came from the Murano island nearby Venice. Note, that the roundels used in those windows do not exhibit the typical navel which would stem from the crown glass manufacturing process. Rather, they are so-called "Tellerscheiben" (dish panes). Basically, this type of roundels resembles the cut-off bottom of a handblown conical flask.
