The fortifications are preserved almost completely. The roofed defence wall ring is five meters high. It has its origins in the 13th/14th century and encloses the romantic inner yard. Its formidable walls are of massive construction. They are built upon a fundament of three ashlar blocks.
Only the former donjon with its pentagonal footprint was integrated into the walling. Originally it overtopped the walling. Only in 1720, as part of the construction of the so-called "Billiard" building, the last Paumgartner had it "beheaded". |
